"Farewell" to "Layers of Colour " challenge

The challenge on "Layers of Colour" this week is "Farewell" as Laura is extending her wonderful stamp selection and is starting on a new journey into the business world. As Laura puts it...she is following her star. I want to wish this wonderfully kind and talented artist my very best wishes.....and my thanks for her kind comments.
I made my card by writing the words and printing them... I then masked them and stamped around the edges with Lauras L.O.C. "Fleur" stamps...first in the darker colour and then overlaid with a paler one.

Book..... for Layers Of Colour (Now Edited !)

Here is the final front cover (above) with the flowers, and the borders of the image, watercoloured ...now I can put it to bed and move on ....I think....!






Here is my new book...made for the Layers of Colour challenge this week which is...."Book" !
Its been quite a journey making this as the first version went in the bin and this one was pulled apart and re-made !.....anyway...here it is ...just about in time too...!
The words were stamped on canvas strips and the "stitches" made with a cd marker pen.

I made the white circles around the heads by stamping with the metal embellishment which is now on the book front.
The pages inside are plain... ready to be scrapped...although I have put floral paper on the pages.
Well after all that ..I hope you like it... Lol !

"Metal" Card !

"Layers of Colour" have set the challenge "Metal" this week.
So here's what I've come up with....the frame was made on the Keepsake "majestic" board by pressing "air-drying" clay into the grooves and then removing it. After cutting round the shape and leaving to dry I silver embossed it.
The net was stapled to the centre of a cuttlebugged silver card before adding the frame. I used foiled card for the stamped corner pieces.

"Rose" Card for "Layers of Colour"

The centre stamp is from the Layers of Colour range designed by Laura.

"Vintage" Accordion Book..."children"

I have made this book based on a 12"x12" sheet of scrapbook paper folded in half and then accordion pleated.
I would like to enter it in the "Layers of Colour" challenge(children)
and the "Artygirlz" challenge (vintage)
Its a while since I made a book so I hope you like it !

The words on the tag in the first pocket say.....
"Children come into the world with fresh eyes
to see all that is beautiful,
embrace all that is joyful,
and love unconditionally
with open hearts and minds."

Exotic Birds

Here are my "exotic birds" for the "Layers of Colour" challenge this week.
It's taken a while to dry as I've put two coats of pva glue over it as it looked a bit stark.

Layers of Colour....Lavender

I finally got to do the "Layers of Colour" challenge which this week is "Lavender"
I cut some sprigs of lavender from my own garden for this one so I hope it drys out OK so that I can keep the piece !
I think you can guess how the rest was done ... (I used my fav pearlised water colours again)
I hope you can manage to "take time" to enjoy the flowers and the lovely weather we are having at the moment.

4th of July

Good wishes to all American crafters today...the 4th of July.
Here is my tag to commemorate this day. I hope you can read the poem on it (please click pic to make it larger )
It is entered in the "Tag You're It!" challenge(4th of July) and also the "Layers of Colour" challenge(flags)
I didn't have any matching ribbon so my rosette is made from the card and paper that the tag is made from.

Summer Respite

Here is my piece for the Layers of colour challenge this week..."Summer Respite"
I colour washed the board first then stamped flowers, leaves and stems. After that I knocked back the strong colours, and took away the sharpness by using chalks. Then I applied the lady, words and flowers.
Summer respite, for me, is sitting out in the garden, so I have tried to echo this.
Not much sitting out today though as it's pouring down and blowing a howling gale!

Cake (Hat) !

The Layers of Colour challenge this week is "Cake"
Any excuse to think about cake is fine by me ....
so this has been a lovely challenge.
I hope you think my entry is good enough to eat.... Lol !

I have also entered this in the "Hat" challenge on Theme Thursday

I wonder if the birthday girl will put her "hat" away in a hatbox or a cakebox...?Lol

Balloons

After posting an ATC I've managed to finish another entry for the "Balloons" Layers of Colour Challenge as well.

I've been blown away by the amazing little works of art everyone has made. I've thoroughly enjoyed buzzing from blog to blog and dropping in. I've said hello where I could.... and to the ones who didn't hear from me...well thats down to my non-existent computer skills I'm afraid....but I'm getting there bit by bit! Thanks everyone for a magical journey !

Celebrate The Sea

This is my piece for the challenge on Layers of Colour.
I painted the background and then added the embellishments and glitter.
I gave the fish a pink eye cos I reckon this is the girlie part of the sea where the mermaids hang out ! I didnt see any while I was there though......lol
