Altered CD for SaWo
Oooo I loved the challenge at Saturday Workout this week because we have to alter a CD.
I put an old CD on the top of a small heatproof (pyrex) bowl, silver side up, and blasted it with my heat gun pushing the softened CD down into the shape of the bowl with the end of a wooden spoon...its NOT a good idea to poke it with your fingers as you wont believe how hot this gets!
...then when I was happy with the shape I let it cool down.
I put a circle of card in the bottom to cover up the hole...and then heated up the dish again and embellished the inside with glue, embossing powders and beads.
When it had cooled down again I covered the outside with silver paint.
I hope you like my little dish!

RubyMay! This is gorgeous! I would never have guessed that this started as a lowly cd! I must give that technique a try!
I love it. You'd never believe it was a CD. I tried to decorate one once and couldn't get anything to stay on it permanently. It almjost looks like a dish made of poaoa (sp?)
shell.
